Arthur Boudman Carter

Arthur Boudman Carter

LEWISBURG - Art Carter left this world today to begin his new life with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was Art's firm and steadfast belief that this world is not our final destination in this journey we call life, but rather just the beginning and that we will all end up to spend eternity somewhere else. He believed that this world was just simply a place where we get to chose where that eternity will be.

Arthur Boudman Carter, 59, of 3010 Buffalo Rd., died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at his home.

He was born May 26, 1948, in Danville, a son of Alice Louise (Boudman) Carter of Milton and the late Walter Eugene Carter. He was married for over 11 years to the former Josephine "Josie" Fox who survives.

Art graduated from Milton High School in 1966. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Navy on riverboat patrols in Vietnam.

He was employed as a welder and band saw operator at AC&F Industries in Milton for 31 years.

Art was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milton where he had served as a deacon and as moderator of the church.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, collecting flamingos, and especially being a grandfather and playing with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four children, Sarah Sims of Australia, Leah Carter of Lewisburg, Catherine Gibson of Kendallville Ind., and Mike Kelly of Kenney Ill.; seven grandchildren, Travis Kulp, Sondra Willow, Kamrin Shipton, Garrett Shipton, Katie Shipton, Charlotte Sims, and Phillipa Jane Sims; and two sisters, Mary Prosseda of Milton and Flossi Betts of Milton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Rathburn.

Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the First Baptist Church, 316 Golf Course Rd., Milton, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the First Baptist Church, Milton, with the Rev. James R. Dries officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Art's memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church, 316 Golf Course Rd., Milton, PA 17847.

Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, PA.

My deepest condolences for the loss of your beloved dad. *hugs*hugs*
Sarah...isn't it funny how when we lose someone, their life gets drastically better and ours gets really bad. It's not the way it should be! We are rejoicing for your Dad's home-going, and aching for you...much love...
